Aston Martin today announced details of the new 2011 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 . The new model is inspired by car Aston Martin Vantage V12, and will compete in the future European GT4 Cup and all other series with a GT4 class. The Aston Martin Vantage GT4 has only been racing for two years, but in that time
has garnered notable accolades: Wins at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Spa 24 hours and this year's European GT4 Cup, just to name three.
Just as in the current 4.7-liter Vantage GT4, which debuted in 2009, 2011 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 based heavily on the Aston Martin V8 Vantage car with the key features that have been converted, including aluminum chassis, engine and Aston Martin V8 Vantage suspension design basis. Apart from engine and aerodynamic improvements, the competitor may choose to breed developed by Bosch ABS and traction control system.This system has been specifically optimised by Bosch Motorsport for the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to provide race-enhanced performance in both wet and dry conditions.
The Aston Martin Vantage GT4's new splitter increases downforce at the front of the car, as well as channelling cooling air to the brakes and radiator. At the rear, the car gains the V12's larger boot 'flip'. This works together with a new carbon fibre diffuser and rear underfloor, which create an area of low pressure under the rear of the car, to increase downforce. The redesigned underfloor also channels more air through a new rear-mounted high capacity transmission oil cooler.
Based on the hugely successful V8 Vantage, the V12 Vantage features a 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 510 bhp (380 kW / 517 PS), and 570 Nm (420 lb ft) of torque with a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h) and 0-62 mph (0-100 kp/h) time of 4.2 seconds. Designed for the focused driver, every component of the V12 Vantage has been honed with pure driving enjoyment in mind. Benefitting from race-developed materials and components, and featuring lightweight carbon fibre; performance and agility have been tuned to perfection.
